This bar is amazing! We were able to relax, have the best Moscow Mules & enjoy the music inside and from next door. Customer service & vibe are perfect!

This rating is strictly for the female bartender who was working tonight. I'm visiting from San Francisco & wanted to go to a fun, artsy bar with cool music. The DJ was phenomenal as well as the atmosphere . However, when I sat at the bar & tried to order a drink, the bartender said they didn't have the ingredients for the drink I requested, and when I asked for another drink she said " I'm sorry I can't serve you " I was completely sober, and when I asked why, her response was because of how I put all my cards on the bar. I was trying to find my debit card until I realized I only had my credit card since I left my debit card at the hostel.
This put a really bad impression on my night overall, but I just left since I was clearly not welcome and I went to District next door who were more than graciously welcoming , and the bartender there served me a vodka cranberry.
The bartender at Valentine's probably didn't give a f*ck and wanted to close early.
I will reccomended valentine's to friends if they are visiting Portland , but I'll be sure to warn them about the unfriendly, unprofessional bartender. Her last words to me were " maybe that's okay in San Francisco , but not here " -

It's a cute tiny space, but unfortunately I've always had very rude, pretentious service, where I always get the feeling that I am putting the bartender out. Recently went there in the evening and brought in our own food because they don't really have a kitchen and the bartender ok'd it. The female bartender was shockingly passive aggressive. She made it a point to walk our trash that we had boxed up and cleaned ALL THEY WAY OUTSIDE AND AROUND THE BLOCK! Does Valentines NOT have a trash can inside? Then she slammed the trash in the can and huffed past us. I apologized and got completely ignored and disrespected. It was beyond rude and off putting. Ive never experienced someone like her, so bitchy and unacceptable. likely will not return unless forced by some "hipsters".

If you wanna go to a cozy, welcoming place this is the right choice. The service was exceptional, the place has a really cool decor and the music is very good. Their drinks are very creative and the price is ok. Sometimes they have live music and it is even better. Cool place to visit.

Omg! Can't say enough about this bar!! Feels like home. The bartender Penelope is knowledgeable with cocktails and also has the best welcoming personality. So happy that I went here. Definitely reminds me of old school Portland hospitality!
